LICKS MAGAZINE AND POPINS PRESENT 3D LIVE SESSIONS FROM 4 ARTISTS FOR HYBRID AR IRL FESTIVAL FROM SXSW
On Thursday, March 16th from 1pm CT, SXSW official artists such as Brooke Combe, Crawler, and Ullysses Wells will be joined by Rae Isla and friends for a multi-hour 3D livestream in AR technology to the metaverse. A select group of VIP guests will gather at a secret location in Austin, TX during SXSW festival and enjoy an intimate performance and AMA, while simultaneously, patrons and fans around the world will conjure live fully 3D versions of the performances to create their own personal house concert and festival.
The performances are free and are part of LICKS Magazine’s pursuit to showcase the best emerging artists in the most cutting-edge ways.
Using just their phone, fans will place the musicians in their room as AR (augmented reality) where they can view artists from every angle, make them big or small, and even take a picture to share. No app or download is required. Alternatively, fans can enter the VR (virtual reality) world and watch in their Quest 2 headset via the Forma Vision app.
The artists will perform live and talk with people for a 3D interactive session in the room and around the world for an entertainment experience like no other.
3D Live sessions feature musicians, comedians, and other performers, giving fans the opportunity to have real conversations and build human connections with creators they may not otherwise meet or see up close up due to challenging travel, illness, or other conditions. These sessions stand apart from other artist-focused AR because the artist is filmed with volumetric video, so they are seen as they really are, without the need for animation or motion capture suits. With these truly live and interactive 3D experiences, Popins is putting the heartbeat into an often cold digital world.
Augmented reality is recognized as the driving force bringing people into the metaverse, and one that enhances our real-world experiences. The artist’s space magically merges with the viewers personal space to put them face-to-face.
